Hi there! My name is Matthew Sidler and I am a clinical social worker in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Florida focusing primarily on couples. I am a make-up artist turned elementary school teacher turned therapist. Through these different experiences, I've witnessed vulnerability and connection through different lenses. From the feeling of self-worth a person derives from their outer beauty to the childhood innocence and the pride that comes with the development of competency and a sense of self.

As a couples therapist, my work is collaborative and is greatly informed by the highly researched and evidence-based Gottman Method. However, I also use various behavioral and attachment-informed therapies in my practice. As it relates to connection and sexuality, I strive to hold space for different experiences and my philosophy is very much aligned with the idea that as long as consent is involved, people have the freedom to explore what feels good for them. My role is not to steer clients in a direction I believe they should go in but rather to walk alongside them, helping them gain clarity and comfort in living the life they want to live.

While my practice is inclusive of all types of couples and individuals, I am extremely passionate about serving clients in the LGBTQIA+ community. While New York City offers an abundance of affirming services for couples and individuals, New Jersey is desperately lacking in services and many clients may not be able to commute into the city to access these services. I take great pride in providing services to folks in the community.
